Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
This website is operated by The Children's Montessori (trading also as Mini Monty Nursery), [registered company name], [company registration number], of [registered address]. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller for information collected through this website.
2. What we collect
If you get in touch with us - by emailing us, by calling the number shown on the site, or by sending the "Request a visit" form - we will only hold the information you choose to give us.
The visit request form asks for:
- Your first and last name, email address and phone number
- Your child's age, and when you would like a place to start
- Which setting you would like to see, and when a visit would suit you
- Whether you expect to use funded hours, if you tell us
- Anything you write in the message box
- The IP address and browser the request came from, kept only to detect automated submissions
We use these details to arrange your visit and answer your questions, and for nothing else. We do not pass them to anyone outside the nursery and we will not add you to a mailing list. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries from prospective families. We keep a visit request for 12 months and then delete it, unless your child joins us, in which case the details move into our enrolment records and this policy no longer covers them.
Please do not send us health, medical or safeguarding details about your child through the website. Bring those to us in person or through our enrolment paperwork, where they are handled properly.
If you email or call us instead, we hold whatever you choose to tell us, such as:
- Your name and contact details (email address or phone number)
- Your child's age or age group, where you mention it
- Any other details you include in your message
We do not collect payment details, account passwords, or any information about your child's care and education through this website. That information is only ever collected directly, in person or through our enrolment paperwork, once you have chosen to join us.
2a. If you write a review
Our review form asks for more than an enquiry does, so it is worth setting out separately. When you submit a review we hold:
- Your first and last name, email address, and phone number if you give one
- Your relationship to the child, and roughly when your child started with us
- Which of our two settings your review is about
- Your ratings and the text of your review
- The IP address and browser the review was sent from, which we keep only to detect fake and automated submissions
What is published. The name you choose on the form, your relationship to the child, the setting, your ratings and your review text appear on the website. The field is pre-filled with your initials and you may change it to whatever you are comfortable with. Your full name, email address, phone number and IP address are never published and are not shared with anyone outside the nursery. We may change a chosen name only if it is unsuitable — an address, a link, or someone else's name.
Why we can do this. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the declaration on the form and confirming the link we email you. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we will remove your review and the details behind it.
Moderation. Every review is read by a member of our team before it appears. We may edit it to remove names of staff, children or other organisations, and we may decline to publish it. We may contact you by email or phone to check that a review is genuine. We will email you when your review is published, and again if we add a public reply to it. Any reply we write appears underneath your review on the website and is not private.
How long we keep it. A published review, and the contact details behind it, are kept for as long as the review is on the site. Reviews that are never confirmed by email are deleted after 30 days, and reviews we decline to publish are deleted after 12 months.
Please do not include your child's full name, or any health or care details about your child, in a review. If you do, we will remove it before publishing.
3. How we use it
We use the information you send us only to respond to your enquiry, arrange a visit, or answer your questions about places, funding, or opening hours. We do not use it for marketing unless you separately ask us to keep you updated, and we never sell or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Our legal basis for processing
We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries from prospective families as the legal basis for handling the details you send us. Where you ask us to keep in touch about availability, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
5. Third-party services on this site
This website embeds a small number of third-party services to make it work properly:
- Google Maps — used to show the location of our two settings. Google may set cookies and collect usage data when the map loads. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts — used to display the typefaces on this site, loaded from Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies on this website. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
6. How long we keep it
If you enquire but do not go on to join us, we keep your message for as long as reasonably needed to respond, and delete it within 12 months unless you ask us to keep in touch for longer. If you enrol with us, your records are kept in line with statutory requirements for early years settings in England.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Ask us what information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your information, where we have no legal reason to keep it
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using new third-party services. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
